Paula M. Golightly
Wildlife and Landscapes |

Paula Golightly is a native of northern California. She grew up adjacent to horse and sheep ranches allowing her to become very familiar with open spaces and wildlife early in her childhood. These beautiful places motivated her to capture what she saw using pencil, pen and paint. Paula has a representational art style depicting landscapes and wildlife painting in acrylic, oil, or watercolor paints.
Paula completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology at Humboldt State University in the early 1980's. She also took art courses during her time in college and is primarily self-taught. Her studies in wildlife biology provided the scientific basis to critically understand the ecology of fish, wildlife and habitat interactions. This background combined with her ever present artistic nature has proved critical to how she represents wildlife and landscapes in her artwork.
Paula's artwork represents unique places and moments in time she always wants to remember and putting them on paper or canvas ensures that others can also share in these experiences. She hopes that sharing these images will help others to more fully connect to the beauty that exists all around them in any given moment.
Paula has been showing her artwork for over 30 years and has exhibited in over 70 art shows, had several newspaper articles written about her, and has also received awards for her work. She balances a full time career as a professional fish and wildlife biologist working to restore a variety of habitats and also works as an artist. Artistic Specialization: Representational style, landscapes and wildlife, acrylic, oils, watercolor, pen and pencil.
