Robin Berry lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Robin has been a professional artist for 37 years. Her first artistic life began in 1975 as a porcelain potter and lasted almost 20 years. In that time, she became a nationally recognized porcelain artist and her distinctive white-on-white pieces, often with birds as a theme, were exhibited and sold in galleries and shops across the country. In 1990 Robin's second artistic life emerged as she changed her direction and her medium from porcelain to painting and illustration, focusing exclusively on transparent watercolor. Today, her paintings are juried into an increasing number of national and regional shows. Because she is an avid bird lover, birds remain a prevalent theme in her paintings, the great egret being her favorite subject. Robin paints full time and owns Tabet Berry Studio with writer/producer Denise Tabet.
In 2009, North Light Books title, Watercolor Secrets, was published. Chapter 1 is authored by Robin to demonstrate the spotlight effect for which she has become known. "Dive deeper into the creative waters that have made the Splash: The Best of Watercolor series today's most celebrated showcase of contemporary watercolor paintings. This very special collaboration featuring 15 Splash artists, invites you into their studio as they reveal the creative processes behind their stunning work." You can look inside the book at http://www.northlightshop.com/product/watercolor-secrets/?r=anjen072009.
Robin has published two book: How to Paint Watercolor Flowers, for Quarto in London and Reader's Digest was released September 30, 2010. Her second book, Watercolor Secrets: 200 Tips and Techniques, was released December, 2011.
