I grew up in Gananoque, Ontario, in the heart of the 1000 Islands. This is arguably one of the most beautiful areas of Eastern Ontario and it played a significant role in my wildlife and nautical interests. Although, I primarily work in graphite, I enjoy exploring other mediums such as oil pastels and watercolours. I find that the graphite allows me to obtain the high level of detail seen in my work, while pastels allow a more impressionistic side to develop in the nature landscapes.

My love for wildlife along with a fascination for maps has created a new form of art that I have dubbed "Artistic Cartography". It has become very popular and is currently one of my primary focuses. Artistic Cartography allows me to bring the species of wildlife and it's habitat together in a single piece of art. My goal to assist conservation groups in their effort to save endangered species while preserving their habitat.

Now that I live in Ottawa with my wife Tracy, a Real Estate Agent and our two young daughters we enjoy the Rideau River and Canal. We live in a community that is called Old Ottawa South and is beautifully situated between the Rideau River and the Rideau Canal. Throughout the summer months we spend it at our cottage on Clear Lake on the Rideau River System enjoying nature at its best.

Jane, our eldest at 20 and Ruth Ann, almost 19, both enjoy fishing and swimming. The Rideau Canal System is a series of lift locks, 45 to be exact, that join several lakes between Canada's Capital City, Ottawa and Kingston, the formal Capital of Canada. It was built roughly 170 years ago as a military supply route. Apart from the history of this water way, the system is home to many forms of wildlife, including White Tail Deer, Beaver, Muskrat, Fox, Skunk, Raccoon, Porcupine and others as well as Loons, Great Blue Heron, Osprey, many Hawks and Owls. In other words the Rideau is full of inspiration for an artist that enjoys nature and landscapes.

I presently work from my studio in the heart of Ottawa. A selection of originals and Limited Edition prints can be viewed upon appointment or simply dropping in if you are in the neighbourhood. I hope you enjoy my art.
