Artist Tammy Kutsuma Irvine's point of view is filled with intriguing shapes, rich color, fur, feathers, and scales. She's boundless, comfortable as an illustrator, not intimidated by fine art. Painting is her passion, a limitless arena of animal interpretation.
Irvine was born in Colorado and grew up along the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. In 1987 she received her Bachelor's degree in art from the University of Northern Colorado with a minor degree in biology. After moving to Kansas, she trained as an illustrator and founded the Rear View Studio in 1992. She currently has a niche painting insects, but also enjoys painting wildlife.
Paintings are typically done in gouache, an opaque watercolor. Irvine is also competent with pencil, ink or transparent watercolor. Her art can be found on walls, in books, on cards, or anywhere else nature calls. Professional and easy to work with, the Rear View STUDIO has an instinctive nature. Whether individual commissions, book illustration, scientific illustration, or prints, this artist keeps animal assignments herding in the right direction.
