Marine and Coastal Habitats using Hand Painted Silk |

I have been drawing since the age of 4 and my hero was Walt Disney and the amazing animated characters he created. Drawing and painting has always been an escape for me and many hours would pass before I realised the time. Through an array of interesting careers from teaching art to graphic designer and author and illustrator my work has always revolved around art.
My silk painting journey started over 27 years ago and I found it was the perfect medium to capture the immense beauty of coastal habitats and the underwater world , both of which I have lived by and loved my entire life. My fascination with these alien worlds keeps reminding me of my place within the animal kingdom.
I use my silk paintings to illustrate my environmental childrens books which are sold world wide. I am currently working on my 10th book. All my books are still in print as their content becomes more and more relevant as our coral reefs and underwater creatures disappear.I beleive our children are our future and the sooner they switch on to the importance of conserving our wilderness areas the better.
I hope my work captures the imagination of the viewer and incredible beauty of the creatures I paint.
