Chosen for the 2009, 2010 and 2013 Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum, Birds in Art, and three times Canadian Ducks Unlimited National Art Portfolio winner, British Columbia artist Julia Hargreaves trained in England and graduated with a masters degree in art from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Hargreaves has had her art published internationally; in 2008, she illustrated Birdscapes: A Pop-Up Celebration of Bird Songs in Stereo Sound.
In 2011 she took part in a Wilderness River Expedition Artists Federation, canoe trip to Caribou Woodland Park Ontario, to sketch and record the Boreal Forest, as part of a project to help preserve the largest remaining intact forest on the planet.
Hargreaves was selected as one of 50 artists from B.C. to participate in Art for an Oil-Free Coast. She took part in a field trip to the Great Bear Rainforest, and later donated her painting to raise public awareness about why the spectacular north coast of B.C. needs protection.
She was featured artist in the Penticton Meadowlark Festival 2014, and appeared in International Artist, 2 times as a competition winner and as a demo feature artist.
She is represented in BC by Tutt St Gallery, Kelowna and Lloyd Gallery, Penticton: Avenida Gallery in Calgary, AB, and Robert Paul Galleries in Vermont, where she sells her original paintings.
Her prints are available from Picture Perfect in Kelowna.
