Kelly Singleton creates paintings that reflect her love for wildlife and the places they inhabit. She developed a passion for art and nature early on. Her paintings are the result of many hours spent observing and photographing wildlife, followed by many more hours behind her easel striving to breathe life into her subjects. While the artist has explored many media over the years, watercolors, and most recently oils, have become her chosen media for conveying the creatures she adores.
Kelly received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art where she studied illustration. She has worked for a number of years as a graphic artist while pursuing her real passion, wildlife art. In the continuous effort to improve her painting, she has taken workshops with Robert Bateman, John Banovich, Greg Beecham, Andrew Denman, and Julie Chapman.
Singleton's paintings are found in private collections across the United States and her work has been featured in notable juried exhibitions including: Birds in Art, The Society of Animal Artists Art and the Animal and Small Works-Big Impressions, the Gilcrease Museum's American Art in Miniature, the Scottsdale Salon of Fine Art, the Bosque Classic, and the Easton Waterfowl Festival to name a few. She is a Signature member of the Society of Animal Artists (SAA) and shes also a member of Artists for Conservation (AFC), and the International Guild of Realism (IGOR). Her work is represented by Grand Teton Gallery in Jackson, Wyoming.
She draws inspiration for her art through travel and field research, as well as time spent hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Kelly hopes that her excitement for the natural world shines through in her art and that it also conveys the importance of preserving nature.
Kelly lives within close proximity to the Chesapeake Bay and lower Susquehanna River in Havre de Grace, Maryland with her husband, Jimmy and their Boxer, Bodie.
