Influenced, even now, by her childhood on the Gulf Coast of Texas, Brenda Johnson’s interest in art began early in life. There were numerous art classes throughout her school years, as well as art-related college courses and private lessons. She has devoted much time and effort in developing an intensely realistic technical skill.

Johnson’s medium of choice is oil or acrylic on board or canvas. Through her research, observation and photographic reference unfolds an amazingly accurate and artistic record of each subject, either painted alone or in its natural environment.

Her efforts have not gone unnoticed. Johnson’s works have won many top placing awards in shows and can be found in private collections across the United States, Europe and Canada. Featured or published in Wildlife Art Magazine, Alpine Living, Inland Empire Magazine and numerous news publications, articles have featured a glimpse into her life as a painter and her work related to endangered species conservation.

Johnson’s juried memberships include The Society of Animal Artists and the international organization Artists for Conservation. Her passionate interest in snow leopard survival led to her membership in the Snow Leopard Trust. She actively supports the Trust by contributing a portion of the profits from her snow leopard images to its cause. A partnership with Artists in Conservation was encouraged as a result of Johnson’s networking with other artists.

The numerous forest and mountain creatures that inhabit the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California where Johnson makes her home provide daily inspiration. Frequent trips throughout North America’s wilderness further fuels her creativity and she communicates those experiences through her art for those who share a love for nature.
