Leslie enjoys painting both wildlife and western subjects, striving to capture the individual personality of the animals she portrays, and create an emotional response to her work. Committed to depicting the subjects she paints, she thoroughly researches those subjects as well as their habitats, vegetation and anatomy. Leslie often goes on research trips, not only to see the animals she likes to paint, but the landscapes as well. She plein air paints to help capture the natural lighting, color and mood of the places she visits. Often this will include animals like bison wandering by, or a moose bedding down within a hundred feet.
Leslie has worked with animals such as birds of prey, cougars, wolves, bobcats, and more, to help gain hands on knowledge of her subjects. This helps give her insight into each individual animal's traits and provides a more intimate connection to that animal.
Leslie is a member of American Women Artists, Artists For Conservation, Oil Painters of America, California Art Club, and Women Artists of the West.
Leslie participates in many shows including Natureworks, Phippen Museum Western Art Show, Women Artists of the West Shows, Reflections of Nature Wildlife Art Show, and San Dimas Western Art Show, where she was featured artist for 2011.
