Thomas Hardcastle, born in Boston and raised in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, is a resident of Ojai, California where he paints and takes an active role in visual arts. Tom’s work was inspired by and is reflective of his love of nature.

Shows of note include several solo exhibitions at the Ojai Art Center, Ojai Studio Artists museum show, the Ventura County Post Office, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Art Walk, Beverly Hills Affaire in the Garden, and a variety of group exhibitions. His exhibitions continue to receive dramatic attention.

Hardcastle’s recent featured works: “Lovebird Bacchanalia” won a merit award at the Degas Exhibition in New Orleans in 2012 as well as First Place in the Ventura County Fair Pro Arts category; “Carpinteria Flower Fields” won the Pastel Society of America Award at the Degas Exhibition and “Taft Ranch” was featured at the Oglethorpe Museum (Atlanta) during the South Eastern Pastel Society Annual Open in 2011.

Tom Hardcastle most recently studied under Carlos Grasso, is an exhibiting member of the Pastel Society of the Gold Coast, the Degas society, Santa Barbara and Oil Painters of America exhibiting member and former Ojai Studio Artist member.

"The subjects that intrigue me are those who in their traits , colors and appearance become visual metaphors for certain human characteristics."
