Craig Roberts specialises in African Wildlife working in acrylic on gesso primed board. Regular trips to East Africa are the main source of Craig's reference material. Recent trip to Tanzania , Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater provided Craig with stunning photographs and imagery for future paintings. Craig exhibited an original painting of a Kudu at the Mall Galleries, London in the Not the Turner Prize competition 2003. Craig is an avid supporter of the Born Free Foundation. In 2004 Virginia Mckenna OBE commissioned Craig to paint an original of GIRL , the lioness who played ELSA in the 1966 movie Born Free. WNAG Conservation Artist Award for the month of August 2005.Night of the tiger,October 18th 2005 Soho Club London,celebrity dinner & Auction organised by the EIA to raise funds for Tiger conservation in India & Asia.Craig's original painting of a Tigress mother & cub SOLD to Mike Batt(creator of the Wombles)for £1,300,which craig donated to the EIA Tiger campaign.£33,000 was raised on the night. October 2005 Virginia Mckenna takes craig's print of GIRL to Meru National Park ,Kenya for permanent residance at Elsa's kopje as part of the Born Free Foundation 21st Anniversary Safari. AFC-The Art of Conservation 2008 Exhibition,Hiram Blauvelt Museum,New York.Anticipation,Craig's original painting of an African leopard was chosen for the show which runs from 10th Sep-21st Dec 2008.Anticipation is featured in the Hardback coffee-table-book for this prestigious show.
