Two Headed Bird
(2015)
Subject: Abstract Bird with two heads Dimensions (inches): 14 x 7 x 3.5 Medium: Deer Antler, Soapstone and Garnet Description: An abstract two headed bird standing at water's edge. The statue is carver from Whitetail Deer Antler found in the Alberta, Canada Badlands. The base is an exquisite piece of Brazilian Soapstone suggestive of running water reflecting off pebbles in a stream. The eyes are hand faceted and polished Almandine Garnet from Sri Lanka. Note the relief of identical wings on each side of the body. If the tail could be flipped up to the back or front of the bird's body, it would fit perfectly between the wings. The touching tips of the wings reflect the graceful curve of the bird's beaks. The downward tilt of the heads is echoed by the upward tilt of the tail. The entire figure appears to float at the fringe of the water.
