A Walk Rewarded
(2016)
Subject: Waterfall
Dimensions (inches): 32 x 28
Medium: Acrylic on Masonite
Description: On one of our trips to Canada, we spent some time hiking in the Bay of Fundy National Park. The last trail we took there led to Laverty Falls, which inspired this painting. I loved the balance of the linear pine trees against the solid mass of intricate rock formations. I was also drawn to the way the water had both linear qualities, as it spider webbed over some of the rocks, and showed mass as it rushed down through a couple of small canyons that had been worn away over the years. To me, the most interesting places in nature are the ones that take an effort to get to. In my life, choosing to take the roads or paths less traveled, has made All the Difference.
