Evening at the Passage
Subject: Orca, Seascape Dimensions (inches): 8 x 11 Medium: Pencil Description: One of my favourite local walks is around the grounds of the April Point Resort on Quadra Island. This time of year the resort is closed so I had the splendid northwest view toward Steep Island and the Discovery Passage to myself. It was a very peaceful scene after a fierce storm; the lighting and cloud formations were perfect and the breeze was fresh after the rain. Out of nowhere, I imagined, a pod of Orca unexpectedly break the surface with there snorts and blows. I imagined they were out for their afternoon stroll. Funny thing–only a short time after my walk, a small pod was spotted in this location. Sometimes timing is everything. Enjoy.
