Subject: red and yellow day lily Dimensions (inches): 30 x 40 x 1.5 Medium: Oil on Canvas Description: There are many types of day lilies in my garden, different sizes and colors. These yellow and read day lilies grow not far from my studio. They produce masses of blooms which are a delight. For this piece I waited for the light to be just perfect. I wanted to capture that almost velvet effect that bright sunlight has on the darker red colors of the lily. I liked how within this composition there are blossoms that have fade and the hint of a bud soon to blossom - the whole cycle of day lilies in one piece.
