Conspiracy of Ravens
(2014)
Subject: raven
Dimensions (inches): 12 x 24
Medium: oil on board
Description: The raven seems to have a universal mystique, above almost all birds. It is respected in many cultures from tribal natives to the Tower of London. I saw a large flock of ravens feeding on a dead seal near our cottage on the west coast of British Columbia. I rearranged and re-imagined them in Yellowstone country taking an interest in a dead elk. Winter is a time for mortality for wildlife and therefore a time of opportunity for scavengers.
