Subject: great Blue Heron Dimensions (inches): 16 x 20 Medium: oil on board Description: Great Blue Herons always fascinate me in their feeding techniques, mannerism and especially their appearance when they are in their breeding plumage. I was walking along a waterfall in my area and was taking in the pattern created by the cascading water. I have seen Great Blues in the Adirondacks wading near the edge of waterfalls as they hunted for food. So I decided to put the two together in this painting.
