Subject: Ruby Throated Humming bird Dimensions (inches): 15 x 12 Medium: oil Description: Checkmate is a scene I am fortunate enough to witness during the summer months in my backyard. I have several large trumpet vines growing along my fence line which attract a few ruby throated hummingbirds to my yard. They usually fight over my two hummingbird feeders and the flowers of the trumpet vine as well as an occasional meeting at the hanging fucha plant. This scene is played out as they have this mid flight pause of a short stare down before one chases the other from this area.
