Subject: Hooded Merganser Dimensions (inches): 18 x 23 Medium: oil on board Description: Silent Reflection depicts one female and two male Hooded Mergansers slipping through the morning glow without making much of a splash or sound. I have been fortunate in the last two years observing the Hooded Mergansers as they silently drift through the waterways that exist near me. My goal in this oil painting was to capture that moment. This painting was juried into the Bennington Center for the Arts annual exhibit Art of the Animal XIX for 2014.
