Preflight - Ferruginous Hawk by Anne Peyton
  Preflight
Subject: Ferruginous Hawk
Dimensions (inches): 20 x 23
Medium: Acrylic
Description: Ferruginous Hawks command your attention no matter what they are doing. In the early morning hours on their winter grounds, they can usually be found on perches where they receive full sun while their prey is still huddled in burrows in the cold ground. When the ground begins to warm and the gophers and voles start moving to forage on the roots of local crops, the hawks will go through their preflight routine of stretching their wings to take advantage of any breezes so they can move nearer to the burrow entrances and hopefully capture the unsuspecting rodent.
