Weather Worn
(2006)
Subject: Wheel Barrow & Pied Wagtail Dimensions (inches): 6.25 x 9.5 Medium: Graphite Description: Pied wagtails are attractive, exuberant little birds whose name aptly describes one of their most common behaviours. Often seen around places of human activity, they add a sense of life and charm to anyone taking the time to notice, and its just the kind of thing that I find most compelling as subject matter. Weather Worn, is the result of just such an observation, made near the village of Killorglin, along the Ring-of-Kerry in Ireland. The old wooden wheel-barrrow, set amid the shifting light would easily have been enough to draw my attention and prompt further study, but the addition of this wonderful little bird with the wagging tail made it irresistible.
