Subject: Common Grackles Dimensions (inches): 12.8 x 16 Medium: Oil Description: This interesting corner post and distinctive fence design was observed at a historic site in high summer. While there were many things of interest in the surrounding environment, it was this particular detail that proved a persistent intrusion into my thoughts, one that I was eventually compelled to act upon. In time the notion of some rich dark accents within this illuminated setting led to the presence of three grackles and the social interaction that inevitably ensues with these birds. Although the painting ought to convey these things without additional comment, the title was chosen to emphasize what I initially intended for the piece.
