Canvas Tilt
(2003)
Subject: Common Grackles Dimensions (inches): 8 x 12 Medium: Oil Description: The seemingly odd title of this painting refers to the sheet of draped canvas or 'tilt' used as a canopy or awning on a boat, wagon, booth, or the like. This particular one was observed at a local historic site, and acted as a 'stage' for a pair of displaying grackles. And like a live-theatre presentation I was very much aware of the delicate choreographing of placement, value, detail, and soft peripheral support.
