Subject: Interior with waterjug & bucket Dimensions (inches): 9.5 x 12.6 Medium: Drybrush watercolour Description: I was moved at first sight by the contrast between the shed's dry, dusty interior and the cool clear jug of spring water. It seemed to me that dry-brush watercolour would exhibit a similar contrast, a liquid medium applied in a multitude of very fine, almost dry strokes. It is a demanding, time-consuming technique, but has a distinct quality quite unlike other ways of painting. I often find the intense nature of the process inspires a heightened intimacy with the subject which one can only hope is transmitted to the viewer.
