Subject: Willet American Oystercatcher Laughing Gull Dimensions (inches): 4.5 x 8.5 Medium: Oil on Russian Birch Description: Relationships of species, be it a matter of belonging to the same general family, or the habitat they share, etc., provides a rich field for creative expression. BEACHCOMBERS reflects one of the many possibilities of this concept and was based on direct observations along Florida's St. Joseph's Sound. In such compositions each species is allowed free reign as to the degree in which it occupies its own visual space, or to what extent it might encroach upon its companions. The resulting image is at once naturalistic while enjoying an arrangement that is based purely on design considerations. Original is available through Buckingham Fine Arts.
