Subject: Common Grackles Dimensions (inches): 8.5 x 10.5 Medium: Oil on Russian Birch Description: The common grackle is a bird with a reputation that does not reflect the quite beautiful aspect of its shape, iridescence, and striking white eye. Observing these birds always seems to provide me with a particular point of view worth painting. Avian Dance was inspired by the reaction of two birds in close proximity to each other, prompting a display of attitude and foot movement set off by dazzling colours shifting in the sunlight.
