Long-eared Owl study
(2012)
Dimensions (inches): 9.5 x 12 Medium: Oil on Russian Birch Description: The Long-eared Owl is one of five owl species that breed in Algonquin Park. In painting this study, I hoped to reveal a little of my experience in observing this bird while hiking one of the many park trails. The diagnostic 'ear' tufts, and the beautifully cryptic markings held such a fascination for me that these features alone compelled me to paint in response.
