Spring Thaw
(2011)
Subject: Winter Wren Dimensions (inches): 8.75 x 8.75 Description: Charno's Creek runs cold and clear in early spring. It is a source of many boyhood memories, resulting from exploring its winding path from Gabler's Marsh and eventual emptying into Poverty Lake, just a little east of the village of Whitney where I was born and raised. I enjoy revisiting the many locations that first inspired my love of nature and the desire to express my responses in the form of drawing and painting. The diminutive winter wren, observed briefly while it foraged along the creek in the spring of 2011, was very much a re-living of childhood wonder and excitement of discovery...something that has never diminished in spite of the decades gone by.
