Subject: American Kestrel Dimensions (inches): 16.25 x 12.25 Medium: Oil Description: Perhaps the greatest difficulty in creating this piece lay in the delicately balanced composition. The obvious presence of the kestrel eases back along the curve of the snowdrift and receding uprights of mullein stalks to the barn in the background. The continuation of that visual thrust reveals a downward sloping form of the storm in the distance and a few newly formed snowflakes that mark its impending arrival.
