Subject: Starlings Dimensions (inches): 8 x 6 Medium: Oil on prepared panel Description: I have explored the idea of very dark objects juxtaposed against a bright sunlit white structure a number of times. I continue to do it because it seems the only way available for me to understand just what the appeal is to me and pin down the underlying significance it might have. Perhaps, each one adds a little more to my understanding on some very basic level, while also allowing me to indulge in statements specific to the behaviour of the birds I choose to adorn the respective fences with. The fact that I always seem to settle on species that are thought rather unkindly of by many people, is something else that has not escaped my notice......and this too seems to be an influential part of my ongoing efforts. I suppose that in no small way I find purpose in presenting easily overlooked subjects, even maligned ones, in such a way that the painted image transcends even these hard-held negatives.
