Subject: Pioneer Woman Dimensions (inches): 9 x 6.5 Medium: Coloured Pencil Description: This study represents one of the very few times that I have used coloured pencil as a working medium. While I enjoyed using a dry medium to get blended effects normally associated with paint, I rather felt I could have developed a full oil in much the same time-frame. This was quite revealing to me since I had anticipated being able to work much more quickly with the coloured pencils than I could in oil. However, I was not disappointed with the effects, particularly on the face and hands, and felt I had accomplished the primary thing that I had set out to do, which was to capture a brief moment of expectant waiting on the part of this young woman.
