Subject: Young Woman by Window Dimensions (inches): 7 x 5 Medium: Oil on Prepared Panel Description: The room in which this contemplative young woman sits is in the Old Keene Hotel, part of the historic site at Lang, Ontario. It is a setting that I noticed and have made studies of over the course of thirty years. The model, Paige, works at the site during the summer and it struck me that the contrast between her youthful beauty and the age-worn room was rich with possibilities for a strong painting. It was the idea of these two opposites sharing a sense of intimate relationship that I held on to while painting, hoping that it would result in a mood-filled, and thought provoking image.
