Subject: Cottontail Rabbit Dimensions (inches): 5.5 x 8.5 Medium: Oil Description: Small mammals often live in a delicate state between safety and vulnerability to a host of predators. It is this fine line that I have focused on in this painting, that moment of decision to leave the shelter of a dark hiding place and be exposed to possible danger in the open. That such seemingly fragile species survive predators, disease, and the harshness of winter seems near miraculous to me, and well deserving of my attention as subjects to paint.
