Mild Spell
(2002)
Subject: Open window & exterior view Dimensions (inches): 10 x 7.25 Medium: Oil Description: One of the most vivid memories of my childhood has to do with my mother's habit of 'airing out' the house during the mild spells that usually occur in March. Not only did the invigorating outside air full of the scent of snow-melt fill the rooms, but there also came sounds that had been kept out all through the cold months. Sometimes among these were the call of newly arrived crows with the southland still fresh upon their wings. To this day the sound of a crow in late winter strikes in me a surge of anticipation towards spring's arrival.
