Indigo & Umber
(2000)
Subject: Blue Peafowl Dimensions (inches): 15.5 x 15.25 Medium: Oil Description: The great tail of the male peafowl (peacock) is its most commonly identified trait, especially when spread in full display. Because this is something that people know, and know well, I decided to focus attention on less familiar aspects of the species. Most of the painting's space is given to the female shown in profile and in the act of sand-bathing, with nary a tail feather in sight.
