Mt. Baker From Cooper's Farm - Mount Baker as seen from the highest hill on Cooper's farm located in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada by Tony Mayo
Mt. Baker From Cooper's Farm  (2013)
Subject: Mount Baker as seen from the highest hill on Cooper's farm located in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada
Dimensions (inches): 12 x 16
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Description: I wear magnifying goggles and use a supper fine (20/0) brush when I paint. The entire surface of my paintings is meticulously covered with the minutest detail. Each blade of fine grass, each grain of sand and each tinny needle on a conifer tree are all painted individually and precisely. It takes me 225 hours to create a 12-inch by 16-inch hyper-detailed acrylic painting.
Mount Baker is known as Kwelshamexw to the Stl:lo (the local First Nation). Kwelshamexw, the largest mountain in the region, is the male, or Father Mountain. His wife, the second largest mountain in the region, is Mount Cheam. The Sto:lo name for Mount Cheam is Lhilheqey. Lhilheqey is considered Mother Mountain and as such guards and watches over her people.
Mount Baker is a threatened environment.
