A Perfect World
Subject: Takahe in Lindis Pass New Zealand Dimensions (centimeters): 30 x 60 Medium: Oil Description: This painting is inspired by the sheer beauty of the Lindis Pass and the Takahe which used to live throughout New Zealand. Hunting, predation and habitat loss has resulted in a remnant population of Takahe in the mountains of Fiordland known as the Murchison Mountains. Conservation programmes have established additional populations. Takahe predominantly inhabit grassland, using shrubs for shelter. This painting considers that, with its abundant tussock grasslands, Takahe once lived freely around the magnificent Lindis Pass area and, in a perfect world, they may do so again.
