Erin's Home - Greater Glider
(2005)
Subject: Greater Glider Possum - Mountain Ash Forest Dimensions (centimeters): 52 x 88 Medium: Mixed Medium Description: Erin was rescued by a wildlife carer. She had fallen onto a roof and broken her tail. Eventually her tail had to be removed but she recovered and was released back into the wild. The Greater Glider is a marsupial possum and is closely related to the lemuroid ring-tail possum. It has a flap of skin along each side which has evolved into an expandable membrane that allows it to glide. It is the longest glider in the world with a head and body length of up to 45 cm and a non prehensile tail length of up to 60cm. It can glide for up to 100 meters and turn in mid-glide.
