Subject: Hummingbird - Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Bladder Campion, Trumpet Vine Dimensions (inches): 16 x 12 Medium: Mixed Media Description: Our hummingbirds in Virginia couldn't resist visiting our flowering trumpet vines. One day, I found an interesting flowering plant that I was unfamiliar with. It turned out to be called Bladder Campion. It is a 'weed' often found in hay fields and pastures. I cut some of both plants, and set them in an empty wine cooler bottle. Suddenly a hummingbird appeared to check out the trumpet vine flowers. I was intrigued by the play of delicateness of the hummingbird and the campion blossoms, and the exquisite iridescent green of the hummingbird which so perfectly matched the glistening label on the bottle.
