Subject: Ciccaba virgata Dimensions (inches): 20 x 24 Medium: Oil on primed w/c paper Description: I flushed a Mottled Owl and its young, early one morning, from a trail in a rainforest of S-E Peru. The young bird disappeared but the parent stopped in clear view, twisting to look back at me. Its plumage barely contrasted in the vague light of the forest, thus the painting is dark.
