Patterns in the Sands
(2006)
Subject: Oryx Dimensions (inches): 20 x 34 Medium: Gouache Description: This painting was inspired by Pollyanna's safaris in the deserts of Namibia. She was fascinated by the colours and patterns created by the sunlight striking the sand dunes – and also by the fact that animals like these graceful oryx could live in such seeming inhospitable regions.
In 2009 the painting was short listed as a finalist for both the DSWF and BBC WILDLIFE Wildlife Artist of the Year awards, and exhibited in the Mall Galleries in London. In the same year Pollyanna was named Professional Wildlife Artist of the Year by the Society of All Artists.
Through her charitable foundation she is actively involved in conservation work on the continent, and is a trustee of the African/Asian Conservation Trust.
