Subject: African Elephant Dimensions (inches): 15 x 40 x 10 Medium: Bronze Description: Locked in Battle depicts a fight between the musth bulls, Dionysus and Iain. At the time, Iain was Amboseli's highest ranking bull, Dionysus its third. During the dramatic battle, Iain was able to lift Dionysus of his feet. Knowing he was beat, Dionysus wisely turned and fled with Iain chasing him across the plains for nearly an hour. This sculpture and description of the encounter is based on photographs and the accounts of Joyce Poole.
