Brothers in the maze of moments
(2008)
Subject: Brown bears . Ursus arctos arctos
Dimensions (inches): 16 x 23
Medium: Graphite on paper
Description: There are about 200.000 brown bears in the world. Its larger populations match the largest extant land carnivores. In spite of their size, some brown bears have been clocked at speeds in excess of 35 mph. The average litter number is between one and four, with twins (like the bears shown on this artwork) being the most common number. Although their inclusion as of 'Least concern' on the 2006 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species refers to their global population, the fact is that local populations are increasingly becoming scarcer. And as the IUCN itself adds 'Least Concern does not always mean that species are not at risk. There are declinig species that are evaluated as Least Concern'. About the motive the artist says that 'it was a big pleasure watching their game and a great privilege to share this untroubled moment of their juvenile life'.

What is Giclée? (gee-clay) Giclée refers to a specific type of art print reproduction. State of the art digital technology has made it possible to create an art print so close to the original that it is difficult to distinguish between the two. With the pigment longevity inks used, fading is no longer an issue, as these prints will last an extraordinary 100 plus years.
