Description: Screech owls are one of the smallest tufted owls. They have either gray or reddish-brown feathers like this one. Their color is unrelated to their sex, geographic location or the time of year. These birds are year' round residents of our area which is abundant with the heavily wooded streams and waterways that this owl prefers. This painting was inspired by a stream called 'The Asaph' which runs through a remote state forest land where we frequently spent time on picnics and hikes with our family.
