Subject: White Egret Dimensions (inches): 24 x 32 Medium: Acrylic on Masonite Description: On the eve of the Vernal Equinox in March of 2015 we got a small snow- storm. Thinking that this might be the last significant snow of the season, Holly and I headed for State forestland where we could observe and photograph the phenomenon of fresh snow clinging to the hemlock trees. The dirt road into this area had several inches of undisturbed snow on it, so we decided to park our car at the edge of the State forestland and hike in. After a couple of bone jarring falls, we realized that there was at least 2 inches of ice under the snow everywhere, and we were glad that we left the car where we did. The inky dark shape of the steam winding through this small snow covered canyon offered such a Powerful contrast to the delicate snow covered branches that I had to do this painting.
