Lilies of the Isle
(2014)
Subject: Landscape Dimensions (inches): 22 x 32 Medium: Acrylic on Masonite Description: The greenest place I have ever seen is Prince Edward Island in Eastern Canada. I was told by a retired teacher on the island, that P. E. I. University and Duke University had collaborated on a study of the natural greens found there, and isolated 77 different shades. The lily pads in this little pond were just a very small slice of the island, but seemed to be a microcosm of the many shades of green found there. The challenge of sculpting them in paint as they curled up and around each other was more than I could resist and the pink flowers added the perfect accent.
