Subject: Waterfall Dimensions (inches): 30 x 20 Medium: Acrylic on Masonite Description: There are probably thousands of small streams in the northern Pennsylvania and southern New York region that eventually flow into the Susquehanna river system and on to the Chesapeake Bay. This painting was inspired by one of these runoffs that my wife and I followed half way up a mountain. We found a place where the water was gently falling over shelves of stone and in and out of pools for a brief rest before continuing the journey. There was incredible tension in the way the trees grew over the stream, seemingly in defiance of the laws of gravity. The water here will join Pine Creek in a matter of minutes and eventually find its way into the Susquehanna River system, which makes this stream, and many like it, the origins of the Chesapeake.
